We all have unfinished business.
The thing you're avoiding. That conversation you're rehearsing in the shower but won't actually have. The family stuff nobody discusses because they collectively decided silence meant ' everything's fine'.
The goal you keep meaning to get back to, 'when I have time'.
You're not alone, and that's the whole point of this place.
I didn't start writing to ever be a writer. I wrote because things kept happening, and at some point, those things created too many thoughts for one person to hold in without losing her mind entirely.
A childhood that was anything but. A marriage that should never have been. Family secrets that weren't ever really secrets.
A custody battle that proved people are capable of both extraordinary love and breathtaking stupidity, sometimes in the same conversation.
But also: pop culture. Bad TV, great movies, video games, food, and of course, the absurdity that is everyday life.
So yeah, I write about all of it: essays, rants disguised as essays, pop culture that goes nowhere in particular, and personal stories that feel pretty universal.
I don't do toxic positivity or pretend hard things aren't hard. But no wallowing either; there's almost always something that's kind of funny, and that's the part I like finding and writing about.
If you've ever laughed at something and thought, "I'm so going to hell for that", you're gonna be just fine here.
