Unfinished Business
Unfinished Business is a platform with the modest goal of making sense of real life using pop culture as a common ground.
Or laughing at it, crying over it, or bitching about it. Depends on the day, truly.
I use movies, TV, and familiar characters because their stories are useful. It's something most of us already recognize, which makes it that much easier to go into complex things from the jump.
Plus, I believe pop culture is a veritable fountain of youth. Say what you will.
Also, I really love talking about Marvel updates. Like, a lot.
Why UB Exists
Imagination did a ton of heavy lifting for me as a kid. Movies and television were where I learned about how people...well, act and interact, both literally and figuratively.
That perspective still influences how I look at culture, choice, and personal agency.
The writing usually starts with me, but the point is always much bigger than me.
What you'll find here
I write about the intense stuff, the ordinary stuff, the true stuff, and everything in between. I've found that there are tons of blogs out there called "Unfinished Business" that promise some sort of life lesson or personal growth.
This ain't that.
(Although, at the time, I thought I was being so clever with the name. I had my reasons, same as everyone else.)
This is not a blog. My forte is in interpretation, not answers.
Trust me, if I had all the answers, I'd be bottling and selling them. I wouldn't even need to write.
So, there's no set formula here, unless you count asking lots of unanswered questions.
Why the name Unfinished Business?
Truth be told, the name does have a point.
No matter where you are in life, you're never really "done." There's always more you could do with what you've got, if you feel like it.
Stories typically have a clear ending. We...don't.
Well, until we do, I suppose.
How's that for a non-growth position?
